What is WIC Program?

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Babies and Children (WIC) Package offers free supplemental foods, healthcare referrals, nutrition education, and breastfeeding promotion and assistance to pregnant, breastfeeding, and postnatal women, and to infants and children up to age 5 who are found to be poor and undernourished.

Moreover, 46 state agencies manage the WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) that offers fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits and vegetables to WICmembers, and increases theunderstanding and benefits of farmers' markets.

Who is eligible for this program?

Pregnant, breastfeeding and postnatal women, along with infants, and children up to 5 years of age are eligible if they are individually established by a health professional to be undernourished and fulfill a state residencycondition.

To become eligible for this program, your household’s annual income (before taxes) must be lower than the below amounts.

A person who takes part or has family members who take part in several other benefit programs, namely the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), automatically meets the income eligibility requirement.
