In order to become qualified for this benefit program, you need to be a U.S. national, citizen, or legal alien who is a current or prospective student in mathematics, natural sciences or engineering; and has been admitted or are registered in an accredited degree program, college or university.

Students must be nominated by a faculty representative from their college or university and cannot apply directly for Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships. Every institution may elect a limited number of students.
